A tool is a tool regardless. I mean if you suck, you suck, and not even the most perfect tool could save you. And if your damn good then even with the worst tool ever conceived you could chug out some high quality shit.

the new amoeseurs leaked like two weeks ago btw, I didn't listen but heard it was good.
I listened to it maybe 4 times now... The first time I was rather disappointed considering that their EP is my favorite EP of all time. By the second play through the album had grown on me. The album is very very solid but I was expecting much more female led songs and such. Also, I'm disappointed that Audrey doesn't scream more. The album is still really really really solid and I'm curious to see how most people are going to like it. I'll probably buy the CD when it comes out but I doubt I'll by the LP.

Also... you guys should check out Warning's Watching From A Distance. It's crushingly depressing traditional doom metal. Their first album was meh but this one is so good. Probably in my top 5 metal albums of all time.

Also, did any of you hear the new Wolves In The Throne Room yet? I only heard the new 12" and I loved it. I might buy it eventually.

In other news, Devin Towsend will release a 4 album series with different line-ups. It sounds rather exciting and the guy has made some pretty solid music in the past.

VARG IS GETTING OUT OF JAIL. So now all Burzum fanboys can rejoice

Other metal albums you guys should check out:
Shape of Despair - Angels of Distress: very beautiful funeral doom that's easily accessible. It's not like the extremely esoteric bands that only 20 people in the whole world like.
Somnium Mortuum - Eternal Sleep: this is a slow symphonic / ambient metal album but it's really good. You guys might have trouble finding it though. It's mostly instrumental but I loved the project. Too bad there's only one album.
Svafnir - The Heathen Chapters: This is pagan "metal" even though it's much loser to folk. I normally despise everything that is branded as "pagan" or viking since most bands are just riding the bandwagon. I mean come on... a mexican viking metal band? The album is just full of really beautiful acoustic songs.

I thought he was coming out in like a month. A lot of people are bitching about him being released and then there's all the people that want to go burn down more churches... Ah black metal, a genre filled with sheep even though it represents opposition.

Yeah, that 12" is rad. Listening to it made me think they were really going to progress nicely from Two Hunters but apparently not! Maybe I haven't given Black Cascade (the new album) enough spins yet but so far it sounds more like an attempt to shed the "hipster metal" tag they've gotten lately and return to more BM roots. It's a pity, I was really digging the sound they had going with the 12 inch and Two Hunters...

I'll have to acquire the new album, I'm hoping my radio station receives a copy soon. WITTR is the only other BM band except Alcest (Tristesse EP era, after that it's not BM) that I found were able to make BM that's actually beautiful. I'm a big fan of the genre but most bands are extremely similar and quite frankly boring. I thought that WITTR had finally found something that truly made them unique and great. But who knows, maybe their next release will be closer to the Malevolent Grain sound.

Can someone please recommend me some good power metal that has feeling in it and that isn't too frickin' wanky for no reason. I like some Edguy, Sonata Arctica and Rhapsody would be awesome if they were less wanky/cheesy.

I just bought the following:
WITTR - Two Hunters DLP
Sonata Arctica - Uni DLP
Paradise Lost - In Requiem DLP
Skepticism - Farmakon
Shape of Despair - Shape of Despair
Warning - Watching From A Distance
Devin Towsend Band - Synchestra
The Novembers Doom book
And it came to a total of about 105$CAN which is really good. I had a 30$ rebate plus they were having a discount of 12% until April 2nd. I'll probably buy the Malevolent Grain 12" next time and probably Edguy's Hellfire Club (man that album makes me laugh and feel good).

Hm, well, I'm not really too knowledgeable on music, but I tend to listen to a lot of power metal / folk metal... the genres seem to collide quite a bit and it's kind of confusing... I'll just give you some of my favourites anyway. I really like Ensiferum and Turisas, as well as some Korpiklaani and Finntroll... Ensiferum are generally more straight up rock, but definitely more powery than Amon Amarth or something, whereas the others have actually got violinists and accordion players and things. If you haven't already, check them out.

Good job at recommending the most obscure bands of all time.

Yeah it is a fake post, it's not about if I asked for obscure or non obscure bands it's just that everyone knows those bands and I mean everyone. Secondly, none of them are even power metal, they're all folk. Thirdly, they're pretty much all terrible except a few songs by Finntroll and Korpiklaani.

Also, Neige is currently composing a new Alcest album. He should be done composing in 2-3 months so who knows when we'll have a new album. He did say that he's re-recording his songs from the Le Secret EP

Ahh, alright. Sorry. I stick by the 'not too knowledgeable on music', then! Don't mind me.
