So
E3 is here again and that means we get to see all the fancy new games coming out.
Microsoft Press ConferenceSo pretty much all they did was show some sequels to games I don't care about, then a bunch of
Kinect games, most of which didn't seem all that deep and were more aimed toward a family audience. They also showed off a new XBox 360 model that I think looks really ugly and has built-in wireless which they should have had 5 years ago. Here are some videos:
Metal Gear Solid: Rising (Click to reveal)I've never been a fan of the MGS series, but I really like how you can just slice through stuff in this. However, I have a feeling that letting you cut through so much stuff will just leave me wanting to cut through the stuff they don't want you to, like the walls of buildings that they didn't design an interior for and whatnot.
Dance Cental (Click to reveal)So up until now, most dance games have had you just hit buttons with your feet instead of your thumbs. This game has actual dance moves and you might not look like a huge fool playing it (but you probably will)
EA Press ConferenceI didn't actually watch this but it looks like they just showed off more sequels for Need for Speed and Medal of Honor and Madden. Yawn. Here's some videos anyway.
Ubisoft Press ConferenceNo Beyond Good and Evil 2, sorry.
Rayman Origins (Click to reveal)This looks really cool. Remember when Rayman was 2D and then they decided that 3D was cooler so they made a 3D Rayman game and it blew?
Nintendo Press ConferenceThe best press conference. Nintendo managed to pull out some surprises and avoided spending too much time of stupid stuff like Wii Fit.
Nintendo 3DS (Click to reveal)I am most excited about this. I want to see what the 3D really looks like, and I'm glad there is a slider to adjust the 3D at any time just in it turns out to be too distracting or whatever for a particular game.
Kid Icarus: Uprising (Click to reveal)Probably the only reason people remember Kid Icarus is because they put Pit in Smash Bros. But since they haven't made a Kid Icarus game since 1991, they're not really restricted on how they can make this game.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Click to reveal)I love this. I'm glad they made a more colorful game without returning to the extreme of Wind Waker. Plus, overhauling the inventory system was a great idea; the old way that they've always used was clunky and outdated. I just hope the game isn't too awkward to control.
Kibry's Epic Yarn (Click to reveal)Hey, let's reinvent Kirby! This game looks really cool. I want to see a Paper Mario vs. Yarn Kirby game; the ultimate arts and crafts showdown!
Sony Press ConferenceDidn't watch this, since I don't have any Sony systems. Gran Turismo 5? That's cool, I guess. Twisted Metal? I think that game was big when I was in middle school. Gabe Newell came and showed off Portal 2.
Portal 2 (Click to reveal)Portal was a really fun game, even if I did get sick of people talking about cakes and crap. This game looks to change up the environment a lot. PS3 version includes Steam Cloud support? What does that mean? If I own both the PS3 and PC versions, I can access my save date from either? Why would I own both? And the PS3 doesn't already have something like that? Weird.
Other GamesMindjack (360, PS3) (Click to reveal)Another one of those games where you can take control of people, like that ghost game on the Gamecube or that PC one where you're a baby. I hope this game tackles the moral issue of taking over the minds of random people so that they die in your stead.
Splatterhouse (Click to reveal)This looks bad. Like, it doesn't even look like an okay game. And, ugh, one-liners. Remember when Splatterhouse games were scary? I hate this.
