I've got Blender and Unity installed. When I graduate I'll have some free time and some feel good too I guess. I love that this has made 3D more accessible to our members wheras before it was like "im stickin with rm cus <<learning curve excuse>>". You're all so wacky and brilliant.

When I made my first few game-thingies in LC it was the most satisfying thing. I'm too oppressed by final year to be really creative at all but I will continue to live vicariously through you guys until I am freeeeeee!

It's goan be great.

a relatively hipoly dog pilot / dogfighter ha ha ha yes i said it so noone else had to. i hate the plane textures!!! and had really better try sitting down and learning to use the blender texturepaint thing better. but never mind, look at the dog riding his little plane! oh my goodness!

thanks guys! also ugh it's been a while but here is a CHICKEN WALKER from return of the jedi [also ][/also]. i don't know why! i guess i just felt like firing up wings again and i always liked those things. it's not textured and it probably never will be.

also a while back i made an armature in blender for the little dog in the plane from earlier (actually a different model / texture, but the same dog). you can see it poking out his limbs in this pic. i'm still wary of trying to animate anything yet but i have him all set up so maybe later??

tried to make a quick goofy Ocarina Of Time-esque shopkeeper and ended up making some ridiculous lavender menace stereotype aaaaa. i like the uh yin/yang symbol on the back of his velvet shirt tho. the original idea was that he'd be a generic guy standing behind a desk but if you panned it around then you'd see his lack of pants. after it started looking kind of uh suspectly insulting i added the little gold spoon and symbol in the hopes of getting a 70s music producer feeling.

ahahaha hell yeah! that's fantastic ed

also i haven't posted in here in a while even though i still make models! here's one i did today, i'm trying to put more detail in the lowpoly meshes (or i was until i got bored). it's a pirate. i AM a cliche!! - poly styrene r.i.p.

the belt equipment looks sorta goofy just painted on but i do like the ridiculous golden dragon on the back of her shirt [based ][/based]

edit: also ridiculously high polycount because SMOOTHING holey moley. i dont think this even becomes an issue in modern computers until ~10000+ trigs / 5000 polys but my... lowpoly heart is breaking...

That looks quality! You're getting way good at this stuff now. Are you still using Blender?

I feel really guilty when I smooth things. I try to do those edge-loop divisions instead or just subdivide within a selection.

You can really feel for the playstation era designers who must've gone through hell putting facial polys in the right place.

Well.. apart from the FF7 crew ;D

thanks! also i'm using Wings, i know enough blender for crude rigging/animations and texture painting by now but the UI is still too imposing for me to really get into it.
also yeah i def agree about smoothing, i'm trying to keep away from it for the most part just because of the temptation to use it as a magic cure-all for any problems in the original mesh! that's also why i'm trying to use mspaint more often for making uv maps rather than the blender texturepaint mode as well. i should have a go at using photos etc as textures though.

We should model ourselves. I guess you need a white piece of wall for front back, side etc then just take details.

I used to mod GTA Vice City, the UV map layout for the character kinda got me into that whole idea of making good skins. I would be interested to see if either of us could do it without getting stretchy neck syndrome. Then again, apply enough seams and you should be reet.

Edit: I wish I had a pimp suit or something for the occasion!

Man, did you only do like skin/graphical mods, or can you mod MISSIONS and shit also?

If you know how to do that with GTA4 I will marry you right here and now.
Hey hey hey

I don't yet have a PC that's powerful enough to run GTA4 comfortably. I have the graphics but apparently all the shadows are done procedurally by the CPU because it's a crappy console port.

So I am waiting out until I get a new CPU in summer.

I had a go at .SCM coding for vice city, got as far as changing myself into a stripper and having simple go-to marker missions. It was when I first started doing 3d so I used to make stupid shit (i.e. a blocky castle) and put it on the beach so I could bounce the motorbikes off it :D

i hope some of these models are for TAP, ESPECIALLY the camp flamboyant shopkeeper because out of all the characters you've made i think that one is my favourite. i can imagine his poses and dialogue so clearly

made a car

the weird license plate is because i only textured one half of the model and then mirrored it. it was sort of based off this car but not really! also no steering wheel due to mirroring and also i was too lazy to add one on after i was done. also happy with the total polycount!
