^ Gamers play basketball and basketball players play video games. Almost everyone at my old High School, athlete or not, played video games. Is their even such a thing as "nerd" anymore? I don't see many people with black-rimmed glasses and pocket protectors druling over quantum math physics. Most of the gamers today are just everyday people.

I guess it's just like one of your favorite underground bands getting mainstream.

Wouldn't I be happy for the for achieving success?

Exactly. Almost every guy at any school (or any young guy) over here plays games and probably owns a PS2. Lot's of girls too (from what I heard loads of girls at my school play Counterstrike). Someone's only called a nerd if they don't get out much.

man being a hardcore anything looks dumb to someone who isnt a hardcore anything. i consider myself a hardcore game purely because i PLAY A LOT OF GAMES and know what i like (note: not most of what the wii currently has)

i mean yeah you have HARDCORE GAMERS (which to me are just casual gamers who have been playing for a lot longer) and then you have ELITIST GAMERS which are the big morons who hang out on secret forums and dont play anyone below a 1.2 point ratio average winsvlose ratio.com. if you are talking about those, i agree fully, they are idiots.

so um yeah, theres a difference between hardcore vs casual and elitist idiots vs everyone. catering purely to the casual crowd hurts everyone else, as does catering to the elitist idiot crowd. catering to the middleground (me) means casual gamers would enjoy it if they just tried a bit harder and elitist idiots can go fuck themselves i dont care about them.

That's exactly what I consider myself: hardcore because I play a lot of games.

And on the context of elitist idiots, I agree, they should go fuck themselves and stop acting the goat. Wait is that correct...

EDIT: I don't want to point at anybody or offend anybody but...there are a few of those elitist guys here on GW...and sometimes I just want to punch them in the face...

I'm looking forwad to that combination the most. There's plenty of buttons if you think about it- the two trigger buttons on the nunchuck and two buttons on the wiimote that are easily in reach are plenty for smash when you think about, plut the directional pad and the 1 and 2 buttons.

With the nunchuck it feels like a gamecube controller that is split in half- which feels FUCKING INCREDIBLE. If you've played Twilight Princess you know what I mean- you don't have to force your hands together on this tiny little controller but can relax with your arms at your sides and play with the same feel of control.

My idea of how the Nunchucku + Wii remote controls should be set up....
Analog = Move, Jump, Duck
A = Normal Attacks
B = Special Attacks
Z = Grab, Block, (with analog) Roll & Evade
C = Activate Final Smash?
Control Pad = Taunt
Plus = Pause

Hmm I never realized how few buttons were used in SSB games. Actually the Nunchucku + Wii remote control style could work as long as they chill on the motion sensing but I s'pose flicking the Wii Remote in a direction could substitute for the GameCube Controller's C stick auto smashes :hmm:

I hope to god there are no motion sensing controls for this game. They would ruin it.

Uh we already know there is motion sensing controls. You can control mr. angel with the bow faggot guy's arrows with the wiimote by moving it, etc.

And where did you come up with THAT?

Sakurai has stated that they will only and ONLY implement gimmicky motion sensing capabilities, because he thinks too much motion sensing would get in the way of the game or something. Long story short: The game will be played with buttons but you can use the motion sensing capabilities for gimmicky shit. I think the link I posted earlier says it.

I think it just depends on how you read the updates. The arrows path and shit CAN be controlled, but I'm pretty sure he doesn't say exactly what by. Maybe they can be controlled by the Wiimote or one of the sticks? Who knows.

Yeah...

Steering up and down will bend the trajectory.

It's probably like a combination of Snake's missile and Link's arrow... Nothing to do with motion sensing. It'll most likely be only for TINY mini-games, like the punching bag. If that.

You could bend the trajectory of Samus missile in SSBM so it's nothing really new.

I thought Samus' SSBM missiles were homing depending on how you fired them.

Yup, you're right. Homing or smash missiles.

The gamecube controller will always have an advantage, unless someone can actually get used to the way the other setups play. It'd be tough though, since you can't rely on it all the time. Motion sensor stuff tends to mess up often, at least for me, and I can't imagine it being too reliable, especially in a game like Smash Bros. where accuracy and timing is key. I'd much rather just affect Pit's trajectory with up/down on the GC controller than using the wii-mote/nunchuk.

Um... What? Yeah, I was pointing out how it didn't say that bending the arrow's path probably wouldn't be motion sensing. Also Samus' missiles were either homing or strong and straight, depending on how you fired them.

Sarhan... I don't know. It will feel more comfortable at first, but I think the Wiimote with or without the nunchuck won't be bad either.

I think the Gamecube controller's really only going to have much of an advantage with people who don't use the Wii for anything but Smash and maybe Virtual Console.

I doubt people who actually play a lot of Wii games and have already grown fond of the Wiimote and nunchuck are going to want to go back to the Cube controller when they don't have to. Also, the fact that it's wireless is a pretty big convenience. Unless you've got a wavebird, the Gamecube controller just can't compete with that aspect.

Like I said before, how accurate the controllers (and players) are will make a big impact on the wii mote and nunchuck's effectiveness. For the GC contoller, all you have to do is hit the right buttons and you do the right moves. For the wii mote and nunchuck, you have to pull off the same motion each time you want to do a move and slight differences *could* result in a different move. Kind of like how if you don't hit exactly up + B on the GC controller, the game may register it as a side + B (ex. dying with Sheik's chain). Those are the kinds of things I see happening more often with the wii-mote and nunchuck than a standard GC controller.

The wii mote and nunchuck setup will be fun though. I can imagine actually getting tired from a game of Brawl. Plus it'd be fun to have to actually move around while playing (and probably even more fun to watch). I'll definitely give it a try, but if I'm playing to win, the GC controller will be my main choice, just because it'll have less room for error.

Sarhan read the posts above you. Someone said how they most likely aren't implementing motion-sensing for the actual game. That means that for the Wiimote, all you have to do is hit the right buttons, too.
