Didn't it say somewhere that Sakurai isn't going to tell us everything about the game through the dojo? I mean, we're debating whether Ridley would be in it or not, but we can't really discount the possibility that he may be included. We just can't know for sure, and I can only imagine the stuff Sakurai's saving for the game's release.

Personally, I think he'll make it. Probably as a boss, maybe as a playable character to boot. There are plenty of ways to keep a character balanced, and Ridley is no exception. If they include him, they'll find a way to make it work and he won't be completely owning the competition.

Anyway, I think the evidence is there.

Ridley would be fine as a playable character. All these arguments of him not being the right size or not having enough moves are bogus. It's Smash and any character could work as a playable character. I mean, before Smash came out could you imagine Jigglypuff in a fighting game? A fucking blob that sings? If they can make that work, they can make Ridley work. Hell, they could make mother brain work if they wanted. I'm not at all convinced.

Not enough moves? "he can basically bite, claw, fly, and maybe breath homing fireballs" - that's not enough moves Belross? That sounds like a lot without even thinking too hard about it. Have you even played Metroid Prime? That's a lot more than any other character they decided to put in had. This is like whoever said that Sonic wouldn't have enough moves. Give me a break.

And I need to inform some of you that Geno is not a Nintendo character. Any character introduced in Mario RPG is owned by Square Enix. You can read all about it on Wikipedia. I am aware of his cameo appearance, that was done with permission. This doesn't necessarily mean he can't be in the game as third party characters are allowed - I'm just informing.

Yeah go ahead and post sarcasm. You don't have any valid arguments anyway (no, the "lol hes too big" arguments is not fucking valid). Just take a moment to read what the guy above you said.

EDIT: And as far as I fucking know, the villains/bad guys/jerks won't be playable in the story mode.

Ok let me tell you a few things:

Bowser has changed sizes in the games he has been in. He is the same size as a Mario powered up with a Super Mushroom in SMB1. In 64, he's huge. In Smash Bros. he's smaller but still big. Same thing with Ridley. He was the same size as Samus in Metroid, bigger than Samus in Super Metroid, Metroid Fusion and Metroid Zero Mission and huge in the Metroid Prime games, and yet he was regular size in the Melee intro. So they can and actually WILL change the size of big/small characters. X character is too big/small? Simple, make him/her bigger/smaller.

And I said it earlier, there was this poll made by Sakurai himself somewhere around 2006, not sure. So he included a lot of characters, both first party and third party, and wanted to see which ones the fans want most. So HE GOTS VOTES is actually not ridiculous. It's an official poll, and characters from the poll including Dedede (5 votes, second highest after Sonic), Ike (4 votes) and Diddy Kong (4 votes) have been confirmed. Seeing as how Ridley has got the same amount of votes as Ike and Diddy Kong, I'd say it's not too outlandish to think Ridley will be playable.

Nightmare, are you talking about the 2006 official nintendo poll that asked what characters people wanted? If that's the poll you are talking about, Sonic got more than five votes - he probably got several million. This was worldwide.

Either way, your point is correct and needs to be clarified. Sakurai/Nintendo ASKED readers who they wanted him to include in Brawl. So if he came out and ASKED people he must be taking the results of such a poll into consideration. Therefore, Ridley who I believe was third after Sonic and Megaman, is a serious contender for inclusion.

That, Jester, is why the poll does mean something.

That's because "fucking" is what is called an intensive, which is to say, a word which modifies the intensity of the statement being made. The use of any intensive will lead to anyone reading what you're writing to assume you are feeling somewhat passionate about what you're saying. Capital letters do the same. If you're not passionately happy or sad, it's pretty much a given to most people that you're angry if you say "fucking" and capitalize your words. Don't blame other people for not understanding how you use the language if you use don't use it right!

Anyway, the fact that Giga Bowser is playable (even for only short periods of time) pretty much guarantees that there's no limitation in the engine preventing large playable characters. The only question is one of balance, and being larger has an automatic handycap in the form of a larger hit box, and the fact that Jigglypuff can mess you up if you're playing a large character. A large character with stats comparable to a regular sized character is, if anything, sort of weaker than a normal sized character with those stats, albeit with a better range on melee attacks.

And all of that's even assuming they kept him on the "OMG, HUGE LIEK XBOX"* size that so many of you are insisting on....which I don't really think is necessary. And Severus already covered all the issues about what sorts of moves he would have and such, and how he would operate on a normal-Bowser-scale.

Basically, none of you anti-Ridley people have come up with points are really clenchers. I mean they may be enough for you, and that's fine, but you're not going to prove anything to people who think he's a possibility with them.

* - Note: while, as I said earlier, capital letter often work as an intensive, when used with intentional spelling mistakes and making references to stupid internet memes, they operate more as a form of mockery than intensification.

Ridley shouldn't and most likely isn't going to make it. He'd just be way too awkward of a character for a game like smash imo. And they did say Bowser (the actual character, not the FS) would be the biggest character, so the whole "Giga Bowser is huge so there's no limitation on size" argument is invalid. Not every game needs multiple reps.

Anyways, I bring good news. Krystal from Star Fox is going to be in Brawl in one form or another (my guess is playable). Some chick named Alesia Glidewell did her voice for Brawl. You can check it out at her site: http://www.alesiaglidewell.com/

Well I said it before, I think it was on that translation thread on Smashboards that Sakurai said Metroid needs more reps. He said the same thing about Star Fox (i.e. no more clones) and I was guessing Krystal is the obvious choice since she is a staff user, a first for Smash Bros., and she really has the potential of being unique. She's also popular. I hope she's playable.
