I tend to TAKE MY TIME and earthbound took me forever when I was a kid, but that's partially because someone would bump the SNES and the game would reset and I'd lose my save. even now I played it and it took me a really long time, but I tried to do everything. earthbound seems a lot longer than mother 3 to me, but maybe that's because how it's set up. I'm already like 3/4 through the game and I feel like I just started out, at 11 hours in.

idk so far I prefer the style of mother 2, it feels a lot less linear and you find stuff more haphazardly. that's what I like in a game I guess!!

I'm at Chapter 5 at 13 hours, but I'm taking my sweet time.

I usually clock ALOT of ingame time in Earthbound, but that doesn't reflect reality, it's all turbo-based grinding. ;d

Though, playing seriously AND fast, the best I did was around like... 7-8 irl hours. In one sitting.

Oh me oh my.

Yeah, I'm the same way. Mother 3 always seems to point you in the direction you need to go. Earthbound did it too, but I dunno, it just felt less linear(more towns maybe?). I'm a little more than half way now too.

Everything else in this game is way better, though. I never really cared for any characters in Earthbound except maybe Ness. This game I really want to find out what happens next, and how the characters are going to react. It's also really cool that the game focuses on characters you don't actually play as either, but you get to seem them evolve as a character.

Mala, I get some weird stuttering issue during some battles, but that's it. It's kind of annoying at first, but I got used to it.

Jealous bass in kicking my ass, well; time to grind. At least the game doesn't force you to grind early on... I probably avoided too many battles; so it's not like it's all the game's fault.

This is probably why my playthrough took a few hours longer than it needed. Every time something happened I made it a habit to talk to every npc..... which was pretty cool since they all had their own little storylines throughout the entire game as well.

i like this game a lot but i don't like the . hasn't yet so it might change, but i dislike how they kind of threw away character and replaced it with something sort of nondescript and boring. i thought original character was pretty neat. maybe shigesato itoi is up to something??

Trust me. It isn't just some cheap plotting device. Once you progress through the game you will see what I mean.

Or you can read this spoiler.

If you're decently leveled against the power generator guy, just use lucas to heal with psi, duster/boney to heal with items and kumatora to pound with pk freeze

then when his power is out get back to full health/pummel with everybody (most important is to get healthy, but you'll most likely still have turns left after that to pummel)

i am right after that part

i seriously wish i had more time to play

i just beat Mr. Genetor (i haven't done the short little chapter 6 thing yet though). he was TOUGH. i remembered him being bad the first time, but this time was even worse. not being able to attack with Duster or Boney for like half the time was dumb. i just had them use lots of pencil rockets and healing items. at the very end, Mr. Genetor did that attack where he does 100-something damage to everyone, and Duster, Kumatora, and Boney all died. Lucas would have died but he had on the which regenerates health after every turn, so it regenerated about 4HP before Lucas's health reached zero. the boss then did that thing where he recharges his batteries, and i quickly used a Magic Tart and, thinking i was already done for, i used PK Love one last time, and it killed the boss. :D it was truly a miracle... ;_______;

I didn't have too much of a hard time on Mr. Generator, mostly because I had those Lightning Resistant equipment, so the only thing that was a bit of a pain was his super lightning attack, (sometimes when I froze him he'd all of a sudden just power down...) His annoying counter attacks were annoying so I had Boney and Duster on healing duty while Kuma and Lucas plowed on the PK Skills.

I had a pretty easy time on the generator, just had Lucas heal when needed while Kumatora spammed Freeze Beta and Duster/Boney either guarded or used items. while his power was off I had everyone but Lucas on the offensive for the first turn while Lucas caught up on healing, then just had everyone pummel him.

man, i wish i had bought the lightning-resistant equipment. maybe then i wouldn't have used all my good items in a single battle. :< but then again, hoarding items doesn't do much good.

Evil Bob, do you mean have Lucas heal with PK Lifeup or with items? i never use Lucas to heal with PSI during battles. he doesn't have as much PP as Kumatora, so i make sure i always have him using PK Love (or Shield omega or something like that).
Boney is my main healer. Boney's actually just the item master in general because he's super fast. Duster's thief skills are awesome, but when i'm not using those, i have him either kick or use items. having items arranged properly between characters is reaaally important in Mother 3, which is kinda cool.

I never got the lightning resistant armor you guys are talking about :(

Was that guy standing outside that cafe place selling it? I had basically no money at that point and didn't feel like grinding some. oh well i guess i will have to make due without it for now.

What? Lucas is the buffer/healer. I rarely use him to attack... and even then I only use his regular attack since PK Love is a PP hog. I even use the fact that he's the slowest character to my advantage by abusing the rolling hp counter and having people take morethanlethal damage for a turn or two and have him do a full party heal at the end of the round.

As for the armour, it was sold in the room with all of the toys I believe. I remember getting my ass handed to me in the coming fight so I back tracked a bit to pick up 3 of them before I went back up. It made the difference.
