Also, I lived in the tiniest fucking town in Kentucky and I knew at LEAST two or three people into game making.  You aren't trying hard enough.

Lucky you. Of all the people I know, I am the only one interested in game making and as for gaming, we are not a lot. Beyond that, the only activity in my town is getting drunk and the only times I went to the town's local bar, I was like, one of the only person who was actually over 18. It is filled with 14-15 years old girls.

i mean you give off the vibe of ..........heh ppl.....who needs em...........while thinkin you are the tough shit and "different". let me tell ya somethin, there are another billion faggots out there who spend their evenings watching anime and playing videogames. theres nothing particularly unique about you. why not meet other people like that?

I don't know for sure but I got the impression she's in college.  College is all ABOUT growing up and learning to function in society, so maybe you should get on the ball with that a little.

Then I say you aren't trying hard enough either, trust me, if I can find people, there's no reason that anyone else can't find at least ONE person in their town.  There are almost no gamers in my town either, doesn't mean I couldn't find a few.

I'm quite sure I can't walk down the street and find somebody on my block interested in necrophilia.

I totally know how you feel on this one. I can't seem to find anybody with similar interests to me. I usually just end up in the graveyard by myself with a couple of "dead heads". And I'm not talking about grateful dead fans either, Heh.

Funny thing is, my college was 20km to the north of my town and I met a bunch of gamers there. I guess every gamers moved out there or something.

Man are you kidding because when I was in middle school like half the people I knew had tried rpg maker (I may have been partially responsible for this) but I mean a lot of people myself included lost interest but

I mean honestly I've never met anyone like you and there's probably a reason for this! I wouldn't consider myself a SOCIAL BUTTERFLY or anything but 2 friends?

It's amazing what a difference a short distance can make.

I think the biggest problem is that people think that their school is their whole town.  They can't find people at school with their interests so they just go "WELP I GUESS THAT'S THAT."  I don't understand this.

Anyway, I can understand her having only two or three CLOSE friends but to only ever talk to those people and not know other people is insane.  I'm one of those people that only has one or two REALLY good friends, but fuck, I talk to just about EVERYONE.  I talk to everyone around me in my classes, and if I'm eating lunch or something there are tons of people I sit with and hang out with, but I'm just not extremely good friends with them.  You don't have to socially MARRY someone to have social interactions, so yeah, just go out and try it.

Now I expect the average response to be "Well if you like doing it, and you can afford to do it, why not do it?"  Another individual I've met, a nursing student now off on her final year placement, mentioned once that "an addiction is medically classified a hobby that you begin to do instead of essentials, like sleep/eat/work/etc.  So if you're doing everything you need for survival, and then spending every other waking moment on one activity, you're not an addict."

I like this parallel here. no one said anything about addiction. if you were addicted you probably wouldn't be posting. there's a difference between addiction and just having an unhealthy habit and guess what both are bad for you.

Me: I've seen your list of things you call "life"

you talk like the world's worst alien.

HUMAN...WHAT IS THIS OBJECT YOU CALL 'LOVE'?

Quote
Him: Well what do you consider "life" then, I mean you don't seem to care about self-improvement and your only form of self-gratification is gained by retreating into games.  You're a shut-in.
Me: The words we use code underlying meanings, like the fact that you believe I "retreat into games" rather than the more positively worded "Exploring games" or just "playing games".

there's no code. if you play videogames rather than do something else you are retreating into a safe area. way to act like a condescending dick to your friend though?

Me: What if i'm not hiding, I just have no interest in anything that goes on out there?

you're probably fucked up. I mean, if you really have zero interest in reality, you are really really bad off!

SO YOU DONT END UP WITH AN ASS THAT LOOKS LIKE COTTAGE CHEESE BECAUSE YOU'RE THIZZING OUT OVER WHEN THE WOW SERVERS WILL GET BACK ONLINE WHILE THE REST OF US GO FOR A FUCKING WALK.

Is it so bad to avoid social interaction and isolate yourself from others?

Quote
Homer Lusk Collyer (November 6, 1881 – March 21, 1947) and Langley Collyer (October 3, 1885 – March 1947) were two American brothers who became famous because of their snobbish nature, filth in their homes, and compulsive hoarding.

The brothers are often cited as an example of compulsive hoarding associated with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), as well as disposophobia or 'Collyer brothers syndrome', a fear of throwing anything away. For decades, neighborhood rumors swirled around the rarely-seen, unemployed men and their home at 2078 Fifth Avenue (at the corner of 128th Street), in Manhattan, where they obsessively collected newspapers, books, furniture, musical instruments, and many other items, with booby traps set up in corridors and doorways to protect against intruders.

Both were eventually found dead in the Harlem brownstone where they had lived as hermits, surrounded by over 100 tons of rubbish that they had amassed over several decades.

I used to turn on RM2k3 on the computers in my computer servicing class and people would just flock to me. I brought a smile to faces who thought that there was no hope for their dreams.

oh god magical negro that seriously sounds like the direction my brother is heading right now. :( he has a mass amount of junk that he refuses to throw away. I offer to help him but he doesn't want to. Just the other day he somehow got a sorta broken drumset and a bunch of other music stuff but I am worried because I knew there was something wrong with his hoarding. he doesn't booby trap anything but he puts a sign up telling people not to touch his stuff and his room practically is a trap at this moment.

i try to socialize with him as much as I can, but I don't think that's enough. i just can't wait for him to get out of homeschool.

also contrary to what your favorite anime character believes in human beings are inherently social animals that require a basic level of social interaction to function properly. If you isolate yourself and live a hermit lifestyle then you will be doing it at the cost of your mental health.

Tell that to Rurouni Kenshin
