lol im a dick.  you're going BATSHIT over a videogame dude.  nobody cares about this but you.  you're really out of control in this topic.  it's hilarious.  call the spade a spade here, at least.  also nah i wouldn't have brought shit up.  because i dont care!  but lo and behold treggy namedrops my name because i guess he takes great offense to the fact that i think games like gta are universally dumb and kind of marketed towards huge idiots.

also the funny thing is konix is right.  he's always right about that shit.  no one ever said he was WRONG; we just said we thought he had something against anime.  that's not an insult for me!  but no i don't sound like him because unlike konix who really seems to DETEST PEOPLE who like anime i am just kind of baffled that you still want to aimlessly wander around a city completing stupid missions.  go to 45th and main and kill jackson, then report back to you.  GLADLY!!

anyway yeah the game just looks dumb.  chef's right.  i have a problem with them because all these SANDBOX games all play exactly the same and they essentially give you this huge world to roam around and then fill it with bland and repetitive missions.  SWEET what a fucking innovative mechanic.  sign me up *travels across town to kill random hooker*.  trite is right!  idk maybe it's a bit arrogant of me but yeah this is all really dumb and base and i dont get how any adult person can like it as consistently as you seem to.  don't act like you wouldn't think the same if you stumbled onto your friend watching TENJOU TENGE or something.  playing them on occasion is one thing but im far from the only guy to notice you exude a GAMER aura.

who's the dummy!! treg is. put on the duncecap treg.

That’s right, you have the young gaming with the old(er), white people gaming with black people, men and women, Asian countries gaming with the EU, North Americans gaming with South Americans. Much like world sporting events like the Wolrd Cup, or the Olympics will bring together different nations in friendly competition, (note the recent Asian Cup; Iraq vs. Saudi Arabia, no violence there) we come together. The differences being, we are not divided by our nationalities and we do it 24-7, and on a personal level.

We are a community without borders and without colours, the spirit and diversity of the gaming community is one that should be looked up to, a spirit and diversity other groups should strive toward.

If it's written better than The Simpsons game, then it'll be good enough for me.

Otherwise, I'll probably just skip this and get The Simpsons game instead.

I never knew the guys who made that horrible Simpsons game made this!? No wonder it looks just like random powers put together into an urban city. Running up walls looks fun though.

i watched an interview with the developers on youtube because it was the first result on youtube for 'prototype game' and it is clear they are really dumb and the short trailers are probably not going to be indicative of the final product. these guys were rone rivendale-level stupid. they were trying to apply 'these enemies wear gas masks' as some kind of major thematic thing about the INTRINSIC INHUMANITY OF MAN. i don't think they are very intelligent.
I had no idea who rone rivendale was so I looked it up... and BTW I still don't quite know who he is... other then "fan fiction writer" but that doesn't say much. I assume he has done something notably stupid.

I watched that same trailer and I have to ask, why specifically is their "masks make them less human, more creepy/evil" comment considered stupid?(1) do you consider it obvious? (2) Do you consider it flat out incorrect? (3) Do you consider it neither wrong nor right but something that doesn't need to be commented on or is unimportant?

If you answer is number 1, I say obvious things can be not so obvious to some people.... so they may need to be pointed out. I didn't need it pointed out... but some people may have.

If you answer is number 2, I disagree, masks can make one seem less human... it is a common practice to make "The bad guys" masked in some way. A La killzone.

If your answer is number 3, then I don't agree or disagree importance of the comment is subjective. Maybe you just think they were just coming up with random stuff to fill a couple of minutes of talking and should have come up with something better?

I'm pretty sure is is a relatively common trope... and tropes aren't necessarily a bad thing.

oh and don't just say "HOw can you not understand why it is stupid?!/?!?11"

When I first opened this thread, I thought I had wandered into Indie Game and Demo, that title screen looks like someone took a picture from Assassin's Creed, a picture from Dead Space, and proceeded to mash them together horribly with photoshop.

yeah so whoah this was a bad thread. holy shit.

anyhow!

That's a good deconstruction of what I said but really it's such a cliche at this point they might have said 'weeeelp we're really trying to thematically get inside the head of the player as to how dangerous these demon zombies are by adding horns to them'. it's both obvious and something that does not need commenting on and is fairly unimportant, so 1 and 3, not to mention they are reeeaaally stretching it if they think that is a thematic point. if the character designs were particularly unique this would be one thing, but heeyyy guess what it's guys in generic suits with goggles.

i mean what i'm really getting at though is did they not have anything better to fill that video with? why was it full of random cuts to the designers in dark rooms talking DRAMATICALLY? i don't see why that video did not have anything that anyone would conceivably care about in it. the only conclusion is that a) the designers are dumb b) the game is bad enough that they don't want to release content or c) they are stalling because there is still a lot of work to be done which is really bad because the game comes out in a month (i don't know when the video was made but uh hell there's literally not much else on this other than the website, a really old beta video on G4TV, and that video). i suspect it is the last one and hope they are getting their act together.

i kind of wish i had watched that video before making this topic because hot damn that is dumb.

well, I stand by that some people are stupid and need things pointed out to them. About the dev's being stupid, I doubt that they are as moronic as you think... they might just be bad at "selling" their product (failing at public speaking/speech writing/coming up with good topics) or just bullshitting because a LOT of dev's bullshit in interviews. I mean some bullshit a lot worse then this to.

also I think there are few ways to display "evil soldiers" other then DARK CLOTHES/ARMOR and MASK... so originality isn't exactly easy in this case with out them leaving the evil soldier concept entirely. And I like that concept for an enemy despite how common it is.

Plus I'm still looking forward to this game. I think it'll be good.

Hmm... when I think about it this is like the only game I'm looking forward to this year (hopefully something else will impress me at E3 but I'm not getting my hopes up). I don't really know WHY I'm anticipating this game so much but to be honest it's probably just because of this game's relation to Hulk: Ultimate Destruction a game which I've beaten literally hundreds of times and haven't grown the slightest bit tired of yet.

Off-topic a little but are there any games where the enemies you kill are human and dressed/look very similarly to you? They should make games with enemies like this...makse it a little bit harder to just go ragbagblastin' your way through hundreds of enemies if they're....just like you...

(seriously more video games should display war the way it really is, a bunch of young guys fighting against a bunch of other young guys not GOOD VS EVIL ALL BADGUYS ARE EVIL AND WANT TO DESTROY INNOCENCE)

but in those games you KNOW you're a bad guy goin' round hurting people, killing hookers and stealing money.
or the enemies look clearly like bad guys (arent all the guys in streets of rage dressed like thugs?)

I'm talking like playing half-life 2 and instead of killing faceless combine soldiers you are fighting resistance fighters.
This is a good mod idea. This is a great mod idea. I'm going to make this mod (if it hasn't been done already).
Evil Freeman. Gordon Slaveman. Half Life 2: Opposing Force?

It's not good guy vs. good guy or bad guy vs good guys. it's more of a THIS IS WAR

example:

these are soldiers

these are also soldiers.

besides the uniform I cannot really tell who are the bad guys and the good guys tbh! I didn't even know there was a german soldier in the top picture until I read a little about it in the article the picture came from!

I'm just thinking they need a game which doesn't represent war as a black and white thing where one side is very clearly evil (they are faceless mutant zombie robots after all, they have to be the enemy!) and one side is good (hello im master chief here to save you!!!) and instead shows it as it really is ("hi im some young kid fighting for my country" "whoa really so am I?" *shoot eachother*)
