do you guys know if it's possible to encrypt an ini file for use with unity? that would be really handy for a ton of stuff.

didn't do much last night besides look at writing a git hook to do javascript compression pre-commit.  Got it working and actually put Treat Fighter: Triple Treat up on a new heroku app.

You can view it here:  http://saltw-jam1.herokuapp.com/

I'm going to update this as I work on the project, so be sure to check it out!  There's only the title screen and movement so far.

Now I gotta make some enemies and some trick or treators.

got a thug sprite made tonight, and made a punch animation but wasn't able to get it to animate tonight for some reason.  Better luck tomorrow I hope.

hi I'm thinking of doing something but I'm really on the fence about it. does it have to be spooky game necessarily?

well if I do it it will be made in Rpg maker 2003 with music made in Jeskola Buzz

choose your own adventure weirdo is one of my favourite games... i hope you do it...

ugly gui mockup

guy is supposed to be giving a peace sign but depicting a hand with 5x5 pixels is hard. Also halo or afro you decide

also the background is animated and looks like the 90's. Unfortunately prerendered not made in rpgmaker, I thought of a way to do it with EPICSCRIPT or whatever but I thought it was easier/more aesthetic this way

also music idea I sampled a metal band called GOATWHORE

here's an alternative background with animation

still gotta make the animations loop somehow. They don't look good forwards-reverse though

Damn these games are looking just too cool, the more I see the more I think about how hard it is to even keep up!

Mid-jam progress report: The whole "never working on games unless a jam is going on" thing is really starting to hurt me now. Already halfway through, and only now do I feel like I can really start working on the game since I only just now finally honed in on why my collision handling was turning out all wonky.

But I do have a decent generator function that makes nifty randomized plots of dirt, and after much personal anguish, our intrepid protagonist finally makes it on the scene:

But will our stoic hero ever get to master the arcane art of shovelmancy in order to realize his job class's full potential? Just what kind of unseen terrors can he expect to be lurking just beneath his feet? Can our hero ever find even the slightest shred of purpose or dignity through simply playing around with a pile of dirt? Find all of this out and even more, at the end of the week! (or possibly sooner if I make cool progress and feel like showing off)

Probably going with the title PUZZLE DREAM. I am making this in java/swing. It has been a while since I have coded anything, so progress is a bit slow sometimes. Trying to figure out how to make this work properly in different screen resolutions. Also still need to write level descriptions and make some scary music.

Current mood: Java sucks, I should learn how to use a game library/unity/gamemaker or something for next time

work in progress: click if you dare ....

kissin' wizard in the secret orchards of the mad witch

does anyone know a good external editor to build levels that can export reasonably easily to .txt format? i only need one layer, no fancy stuff. manually constructing lvls via typing is way obnoxious.

i'm not sure if this converts them to txt format, but ogmo editor is pretty sweet.

I got my story all figured out, and since my thing's basically like a vine but with AGS, now all I gotta do is draw all the pictures.  but my perfectionism's killin me here, I hope I can get everything drawn before the weekend so's I can have at least SAT and SUN to figure out how to make the magic happen with AGS...

Well I know Tiled Map Editor can export to .txt and if they doesn't work I think ogmo may? At least I think it can export as a .xml file.
