You guys are forgetting one thing. Tournament players are competing for MONEY. So, if they got blown up by a Bom-Bomb and it cost them 3000$, yea.

I lost a 10$ turney to the Ice Climbers... nuff said...

This update might have been cool yesterday...but after Stage Builder it's very "Meh"
I'm not conceited.  I'm as good as I say I am.

i think its an excellent update

i was kinda worried classic mode wouldnt make it with all the focus they are putting into the story. classic mode is always fun as you can burst through the entire roster in like 20 minutes.

If you think about it, he basically told us that there will be multiple characters from each franchise.

Quote
The world you fight in is pretty much determined based on stage number. Stage 1 is based on The Legend of Zelda. Stage 3 is based on Pokémon. And each time, the characters are chosen randomly.

This makes me happy because I think it raises the chances of another FE character that will actually be useable for actually winning other than to just mess around.

Plus anyone who needs randomness (REAL CONTENTZ LOL) is obviously not a great smash player.
Well if you NEED to WIN in order to have FUN, then you aren't a very good PERSON. (not you necessarily (non-tournament situations))

I watched a handful of those videos you posted Sarhan.  I agree that some stages should be banned (since they make for boring battles) but the other ones were boring to watch as well.  Needed more items.  And two more players.  Randomness is part of the game.

People in Wheel of Fortune don't bitch because "I could've won if I spun a $5000 in the Before & After round."

And I admit I am not a great smash player.  But I have a shitload of fun playing it.

Personally I don't care what tournament players do, take out whatever you want.  As long as the rest of us can have those things, then tournament players can turn them off or ban them or whatever, it doesn't effect me.  As long as no one expects the game to be catered to tournaments, then I don't see why there should be a problem.

The way I see it, if you get hit with an exploding crate, then it's just bad luck, so sorry buddy.

I can see both sides of the argument for tournaments players and items.

The solution?  Play with items, but also play with 99 lives.  That way, despite the random elements, the better player will eventually emerge.

Oh, but that would take forever.

oh shit
we might have to react to the environment AS WELL AS the other players' skill

OH SHIT ABANDON MISSION ABORT ABORT [/i]

I think it's a ridiculous concept, but oh well. I'm pleased to see Classic mode is in, the interface looks nice and snappy.

Anyone who can't adapt to randomness is not a good player of anything.

tournament players (who mind you are poor enough already) don't pay in hundreds of dollars at a chance to win thousands of dollars just to be beat by a random box that falls, they get beat because the other player was better.

glitched landscape (ie the one banned stage video he posted, the rest were just SHOWING OFF HOW GOOD COMPETETORS ARE (well the other two i watched were) is not the same as randomness. banning stages that give a 100% unfair advantage to one player (ie fox in the mario2 stage) is fine. banning one that is equally unfair to all players is just kinda

well i wanna say lame but you know its up to the toruney holders. if they are truly happy in boring stages then that doesnt hurt anyone.

items arent equally unfair, they benefit one player and the rest get screwed and its by random luck. now if every player had access to the same items, then it would be equally unfair etc (that would be pretty ok too imo)

I don't get why it even matters how the game is played. There's so many options and customization of the individual battles who cares.  But I know for sure if I was playing for a lot of money I wouldn't want a Box to blow me up. If I'm playing with friends, who cares?

Those are some pretty serious stakes, though.  There are times to play seriously and times to play for fun.  There's nothing wrong with either.
