This new assist trophy looks absolutely nostalgic. The people at HAL really know what they're doing with this game. It's going to be nuts.

Sure, it may have some "nostalgic" value for the people who've played AC before, but what else does it offer? Absolutely nothing. He's the Goldeen of the Assist Trophies. Absolutely useless. I'd like him 10 times more if he did something or interfered somehow. I've never played AC, but even if I did I'd probably still dislike this update. I'd rather have someone useful come out of the AT if I'm getting my ass kicked instead of some useless, rambling character, whether or not he offered any nostalgic value. And besides, you aren't going to get the same feeling of nostalgia every single time you use him. A few times, sure, but eventually it'll wear thin.

You might also notice that it zooms in on him and that his text and even his model cover a decent patch of screen. He works more like the Nintendogs item than the Goldeen Pokeball. But it looks like it might last longer.

He'll last longer. No doubt about that. But I don't think it zooms in automatically. I think they just took screenshots up close to show what he looks like. Maybe I'm wrong though. If they did make the screen zoom in, you wouldn't be able to see your characters (judging by the screenshots).

Sarhan you shouldn't have to rely on assist trophies to win. I think you're forgetting that it will just be FUN and FUNNY to see this guy come out and everyone is laughing and trying to read what he is saying while they are fighting.

I guess you're right. He could offer some decent comedic value. Hopefully he'll actually be able to distract people enough so I could go up to them and smack them while they're trying to read.

And yeah, nobody should have to rely on items to win (and I rarely do since I rarely play with items, even in 4 player). But it's always nice when you're down and the other person thinks they've pretty much won, but then you get some item that turns it all around.

Dude, if that was the "whole fucking point of him," they would have mentioned it in the update. They wouldn't leave something like that out. They said that he lectures you and I'm pretty confident that that's all he does. The Devil AT affects the screen and they made sure to mention it, so why would they not do the same for Mr. Resetti?

My whole point was that you can't assume that the screen zooms in on him just because it looks like that in the screenshot. If that was the case, then you could also assume the same thing happens for Diddy's FS, Snake's grab, Wario's down B, or any of the other 90% of screenshots where it's zoomed in on a particular character or item.

edit: holy shit relooking at the screens, not only is it obvious the zoom is part of the trophy but he also makes people fall asleep. that's awesome!

It doesn't mention that the screen doesn't zoom in for any of the other zoomed in screenshots, so with your logic, that means that all of those other screens are going to be like that during gameplay. It'd be somewhat redundant if they had to let you know that every single zoomed in screenshot (which is like...90% of them) isn't actually going to look like that in-game. So how exactly is it obvious?

And I doubt he puts you to sleep. It's probably something Sakurai did to show that he rambles on non-stop and it was most likely added in for an aesthetic effect, just like the screenshot of Mario flying back when Snake gets out of the box.
